Everything Included in Every Kids Surf Lesson
Nothing to rent, buy, or figure out beforehand. Show up with your child and a towel — we handle every piece of gear and every safety detail.
3:1 Ratio — Always
Three students per instructor is our hard cap in group lessons — never more. Your child is always within arm's reach of a trained adult in the water. No crowded lineup, no waiting for a turn. Just focused coaching from the first wave to the last.
Certified, Bilingual & Local
Our instructors grew up surfing this coast. They know the sandbars, the tides, and how to read a child's body language — when to push and when to ease off. Certified in surf instruction and water safety, bilingual in English and Spanish.
Private vs. Group Kids Surf Lessons
Both work. The right choice comes down to your child's age, their comfort in the water, and how fast you want them to progress.
Private Kids Lesson
From $75 / child · per hour
- 100% of the instructor's attention
- Best for kids 6–8 or nervous beginners
- Pace set entirely by your child
- Fastest path to standing up on a wave
Group Kids Lesson
From $60 / child · min. 4 kids
- 3:1 ratio (max 3 kids per instructor)
- Great for siblings & family vacations
- Social energy of peer learners
- Same gear, same safety — lower per-hour rate

Is This the Right Lesson for Your Child?
We teach kids of all comfort levels — first-timers, nervous beginners, sibling groups, and Orlando visitors. Here's how we handle each.
First Time in the Ocean
Never surfed before? Perfect. Most kids in our lessons have never been on a board. We start with 20 minutes on the sand so nothing feels scary in the water. By the end of the first session, most first-timers are standing up.
Book a first lesson →Nervous or Hesitant
Nervous kids are normal — probably half the kids we teach show hesitation on Day 1. We recommend private for any child who's anxious: one instructor, your child's pace, as long as they need on the sand before entering the water. We work through fear, not past it.
Private lesson for nervous kids →Siblings & Family Groups
Siblings can surf together in a shared lesson — up to 3 kids with one instructor (3:1 ratio); for 4 or more, our Group lessons add instructors so everyone surfs. One drop-off, one pick-up, all the same fun. For families staying a full week, our Surf Camp has family pricing built in.

Cocoa Beach is about an hour east of Orlando and 15 minutes from the Kennedy Space Center. Book a morning lesson, be back at the parks by lunch. It's the easiest half-day add-on for any Florida family trip.
Check availability →What Happens During a Kids Surf Lesson
No guesswork. Here's exactly how every lesson unfolds — from the parking lot to the wave.
Beach safety briefing
Ocean awareness, how to fall safely, how to handle the board, and what the instructor's signals mean — before any water contact. Kids finish this knowing the rules of the ocean.
Sand practice
Paddling position and the pop-up demonstrated step by step on the sand. Getting it right on dry ground is what makes it click the moment they're in the water.
First waves, together
Into the water with the instructor in arm's reach. They guide the board, time the wave, and call the moment to stand up. Kids feel supported from the first push.
Feedback & cool-down
What worked, what to focus on next, and a quick reset on the beach. Most kids stand up on a wave during their first session — and immediately want to go again.
Why Cocoa Beach Is Perfect for Kids Learning to Surf
Beginner-friendly waves and a sandy bottom. The waves at Cocoa Beach roll in consistently and gently — small enough for a 6-year-old, real enough to be exciting. The ocean floor is soft sand all the way past the breakers. No coral, no rocks, no reef. If your child falls — and they will, that's how surfing works — they land on sand. Every time.
Close to Orlando and the Kennedy Space Center. About an hour east of Orlando and 15 minutes from the Space Center, Cocoa Beach is the natural pick for families visiting Disney, Universal, a launch, or boarding a cruise from Port Canaveral. Book a morning lesson, be back at the parks by lunch.
What Parents Say
Many of our students say their first lesson in Cocoa Beach was the highlight of their trip. Some even return for more lessons or continue surfing long after they go home.
